YOU, WAITING THERE<\/b><\/p>\n

The fact that I get to meet you for anything,
\non a corner in New York City, fills me with awe
\nfor the miracle of my entire existence.<\/p>\n

There are many claims to reason,
\nwhoever and whatever is the one,
\nthat anyone, to this pungency you are.<\/p>\n

An end and not a history of responses
\nto happiness as suffering, that bus that hasn’t
\nkilled us yet, and everything forgets to go South.<\/p>\n

It is a privilege to serve you.
\nWhoever and whatever is the one
\nanyone, that anyone could be,<\/p>\n

and hardly is at all as much as the rest.
\nAnd yet\u2014to be, what a strange thing
\nyou are to me. A summer night, in this world.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

WALLFLOWER<\/b><\/p>\n

In the long exposure the house
\nIs frozen, and shadows blur<\/p>\n

As they pass their lives along
\nThe walls. Once the tragic\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

Knowing, then to forget
\nSanity and remain, resident exile<\/p>\n

The survivor who tells the story.
\nOr to lift the direct rebellion<\/p>\n

And leave no word
\nThat does not contribute.<\/p>\n

To return as the ordinary thing
\nSomeone might still know.<\/p>\n

IN THE TRIP WE DIDN\u2019T TAKE<\/b><\/p>\n

In the trip we didn\u2019t take
\nThe feeling of being gone is the addiction.<\/p>\n

The oysters we opened were taverns in themselves
\nIn the trip we didn\u2019t take.<\/p>\n

Back in Brooklyn a moth sleeps in the lettuce crisper.
\nLove is a turtle meets a tire, in the trip we didn\u2019t take.<\/p>\n

In the trip we didn\u2019t take forgetting is necessary
\nAnd no one has ever met your twin.<\/p>\n

Or should we not, and we should not
\nIn the trip we didn\u2019t take, go that way.<\/p>\n

We grilled sardines behind the house and had them
\nWith a crisp Muscadet, then a cod from Brittany,<\/p>\n

And later a cigar with the last of the Chinon, sun gone
\nDown in the trip we didn\u2019t take. Played guitar and ukulele.<\/p>\n

An omelet is a last republic in the trip we didn\u2019t take.
\nArt is a last resort, coffee is a pharmacy,<\/p>\n

And you get whatever you needed in the trip we didn\u2019t take.
\nNight or day, time was in the trip<\/p>\n

We didn\u2019t take. Time was lived that we became
\nWhat loved us we become<\/p>\n

Not our thoughts inside the trip
\nIn the trip we didn\u2019t take.<\/p>\n

Two rivers roll full flood in the trip we didn\u2019t take
\nOver broader lands and<\/p>\n

To a single destiny at sea.
\nYou can be yourself with me in the trip\u00a0<\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

We didn\u2019t take, you always, and to become.
\nYou have only and just and<\/p>\n

Yet, and always, to be
\nIn the trip we didn\u2019t take.<\/p>\n

In the trip we didn\u2019t take
